New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP)

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) enables skilled immigrants to obtain a provincial nomination certificate for Canadian permanent residence. It includes categories for skilled workers with job offers, Express Entry candidates, business investors, participants in the Atlantic Immigration Program, and those supported by family members in the province, each with specific eligibility criteria related to age, education, language, and work experience.

Overview

New Brunswick, the largest of Canada’s Maritime Provinces, is situated below Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula and next to Maine, USA. It offers excellent employment opportunities and a low cost of living compared to larger provinces. Newcomers can choose to live in small towns or cities like Fredericton, Saint John, and Moncton, and enjoy the province’s beautiful lakes and outdoor recreational sites. Through the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP), skilled immigrants can obtain a provincial nomination. There are currently five immigration streams available for those looking to settle in New Brunswick, helping prospective immigrants find the right path for their needs.

Express Entry Stream

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) stream utilizes the federal Express Entry system to address the province’s labour market and demographic needs, operating under an ‘Expression of Interest’ model. To qualify, applicants must have an active Express Entry profile, a Job Seeker Validation Code or proof of enrollment in a PGWP-eligible program at a federally-designated post-secondary institution, currently reside in New Brunswick, and possess valid language test scores in English or French equal to Canadian Language Benchmark Level 7 (CLB 7).

Skilled Workers Stream

New Brunswick accepts applications from individuals with a full-time, permanent job offer from a New Brunswick employer under this category. Minimum requirements include proving intent to reside in New Brunswick, having a job offer and a letter of support from an eligible employer, possessing at least a Canadian secondary school diploma or an equivalent foreign credential, being between 19 and 55 years of age, and holding valid language test scores in English or French of Canadian Language Benchmark Level 4 (CLB 4).

Business Immigration Stream

New Brunswick accepts applications from individuals planning to own and actively manage a business in the province, with an expected monetary investment. Minimum requirements include having an eligible connection to New Brunswick, completing an academic degree or specific trade diploma, demonstrating a minimum personal net worth of at least $600,000 CAD (with $300,000 CAD readily available), being between 22 and 55 years of age, and holding valid language test scores in English or French of Canadian Language Benchmark Level 5 (CLB 5).

Strategic Initiative Stream

The Strategic Initiative Stream targets Francophone workers with the skills and experience needed to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy who wish to settle permanently. Minimum requirements include intent to reside in New Brunswick, a qualifying connection to the province, at least a Canadian secondary diploma or equivalent, sufficient settlement funds, age between 19 and 55, and valid French language test scores of Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 5.

Critical Worker Pilot

Introduced in November 2022, the Critical Worker Pilot is a unique program that will allow designated employers in New Brunswick to recruit foreign talent to address their workforce needs.

Atlantic Immigration Program

New Brunswick is part of the Atlantic Immigration Program, collaborating with the Government of Canada to address labor shortages in the region. Foreign nationals, whether abroad or in Canada on temporary status, can apply. All applicants must secure a job offer from a designated employer that meets the program’s requirements.
